Well, the Bears just returned volley after the Saints went on national TV and thumped the Cowboys. I realize that thumping the streaking 8-4 'Boys is a bit more impressive than thumping the fading 5-7 Rams; but the thing that the rest of the NFC must've noticed was the respectable performance of Rex Grossman. Nothing spectacular, he just played a solid game and the special teams came up huge (once again for the Bears) and the Bears re-established themselves. No befuddling loss to an underachieving team that opens the door for the Saints to challenge for homefield advantage in the playoffs...just a butt-whippin' and and 11-2 record that all but assures the NFC's road to Miami will go through Chicago...(though Peter King pointed out today that the home teams are just 10-10 in the playoffs recently, so am not sure where the advantage went....)
How 'bout that Devin Hester? Wouldn't he look good in midnight green? Maybe we might get a return past the 30....
Philly.com has an article title: Defense could stop Birds playoff run...NO SHIT!
Look I'm not deliberately baggin' on Ashley Fox (the author of the piece), I imagine she justs writes whatever story the editor says to write...but damn...talk about stating the OBVIOUS...
We (and by we I mean Philly bloggers and chatters and board-posters) have been lamenting this team "ole-attitude" towards stopping the run almost all season. Its gotten to the point that I call the Eagles' front seven the "Matadors."
We all know the Birds have to start getting it done on D...but we cannot change the past...just hope the same fight we've seen the past couple of weeks begin to translate into anti-run performance in the next couple of weeks. Trust me, Ashley, the fans are painfully aware of the stakes....
