Thursday Follies

Did I really take all week off, with no blogging?
Holy crap....sorry folks, don't mean to disappoint, but working a lot sort of takes the starch of what I want to do with the my limited time after work.

So what's cookin'?

First off, some of the guys from my wife's shift had a "movie night" in the barracks on Tuesday night. The movie? Reno 911! Miami. and I'll tell you what. It was fucking HILARIOUS. If you like the show in the slightest, you have got to see this movie. I was skeptical at first...I mean the show is basically skits, but the premise actually works (with a healthy suspension of disbelief). Moreover, its one of those rare comedies that is actually funny until the very end.

But mostly its been a lot of work lately, so while I've been keeping up with all the latest Eagles news (like the fact the Donovan made it through most the mini-camp work-outs), I haven't had the time to really put together any cohesive thoughts about the Birds, let alone the NFC East.

In other news. Slammin' Sammy Sosa hit home-run #600 today, against, of all teams, the Cubs. Hee hee. Once again the Phillies became the Phrauds....they blew 2 of 3 versus the Detroit Tigers, and did the same wilting-act versus the Cleveland Indians.

And the COUNTDOWN is officially on. The Fightin' Phils are now 10 losses from 10,000, which would set the standard for futility by any major league team, in any sport, anywhere. Good lord. What have the dedicated phans in Philly done deserve a club like this?

"We Basically Got Beat by Their Back-ups..."

Hee hee, Falcons beat writers are discussing the merciful end to their miserable season at the hands of the Eagles second-string...HA HA HA HA

Read all about it here.

Jim Mora Jr is as good as GONE as Falcons head coach...here's the ringing endorsement Mike Vick gave him: "If something like that were to happen, it wouldn't be tough for me to learn a new system," he said. "If it didn't happen, it's all good."

WOW...can you just feel the love from the Coach-Killa to the wannabe U-Dub sideline prowler???

Donte's revenge:
Wide receiver Donté Stallworth didn't spit in the face of cornerback DeAngelo Hall, as Terrell Owens did a couple weeks back. Stallworth got sweeter revenge on the trash-talking Falcon. "I'm wearing a division-title cap and DeAngelo Hall isn't," Stallworth said. According to Stallworth, Hall talked a lot of smack during the game. "He called me a bum," Stallworth said. "He kept saying he's been to two Pro Bowls and I haven't been to any. Well, this bum is going to be in the playoffs next week while that two-time Pro Bowler is out on the golf course or somewhere."
You tell him Donte' and here to hopin' we resign ya...Stallworth is one hard-workin' dude. And you know what else...he's QUIET too, doesn't yap, just hustles his ass off and does his job.

Eagles Craziness - Turning a RB into a CB????

The absolute goofiest thing I have heard in a long while regarding the Eagles was the news today that running back Bruce Perry is switching sides and becoming a cornerback!! A corner?? What the hell is that all about? We can't stick him at CB, a frickin' Arena league QB would tear him apart, let alone some dudes we'll face this year (Blesoe, Delhomme, Manning, et al) .

This only solidifies Perry's NFL status (that is NOT FOR LONG) on the Philadelphia Eagles. Are you trying to tell me that Perry is a better DB than the ones we cut? Better than Dexter Wynn, Matt Ware and JR Reed? I ain't buying this one, Andy Reid...I cut the Eagles front office a lot of slack...A LOT...but this move is a true head-scratcher....there is NO way in the world I would be comfortable seeing a former RB lining up opposite another teams WR...yeah yeah all you Troy Brown fans can go suck wind, at least he was wide receiver and knew what it was like downfield...Perry is a trench rat....

Tell us what your thinkin' Andy...or share some of your stash....

On another note: yet another illustration of why I just don't trust the Phillies, as the wildcard heats up, the Phils wilt...case in point, tonight: while the Marlins get a no-hitter from formerly no-name rookie pitcher, Aribal Sanchez, the Phillies blow yet another critical game in the 9th inning...when the going gets tough, the Phils go fishing...have funs on links in Florida in October boys...better extract yer heads from yer butts fellas, there is post-season berth just begging to be taken, Florida smells it, why can't you?
